Almost Spring

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now

Is hung with bloom along the bough,

And stands about the woodland ride

Wearing white for Eastertide.

Now, of my threescore years and ten,

Twenty will not come again,

And take from seventy springs a score,

It only leaves me fifty more.

And since to look at things in bloom

Fifty springs are little room,

About the woodlands I will go

To see the cherry hung with snow.

I could not resist taking a picture of spring flowers,  when I went to pick up my eight year old son from school, yesterday. He was patient while I stopped walking, taking pictures and enjoying the signs of spring. While I am in no rush to hustle or hurry, my son is always talking about how he can’t wait to be sixteen and get his driver’s license. He wants to work, save up $$ to buy his own car. So, whenever we go to stores like  Safeway, Nob Hills, Trader Joe’s, he says to me I wish I could work here. He even asked the cashier if he can get a job at a couple of stores.  And I keep telling him, but you are only 8 years old, even if you save for your car you can’t drive until you are old enough to get your driver’s license. We have these regular conversations.  This little bird already has plans and getting ready to fly away from mama 🙂  Anyways I hope you enjoy the above poem by A E Housman as much as I do.
